OK, here’s a problem. X11 doesn’t run any more, and so I re-installed (or installed?) it from the developers tools package on the Leopard install disk. And it doesn’t run. It starts to launch, but it never makes it all the way to residing as an icon in the Dock. And if I take the Activity Monitor and view the processes, they appear to be running, but they’re not accessible to me to use in the usual way (though the OS GUI). If I force kill them from the Activity Monitor they relaunch. Spooky.

Oh, if you want, Apple has instructions on their site how to set up a QuickTime video for your website. QuickTime 7: Preparing movies for Internet delivery. You do need to own QuickTime Pro, though.

Why is it that we expect to be perfect and do it “right” “all the time”… when baseball players hit.333 they are payed tons of money.. to hit the ball 1/3 of the time they are up to bat. WHY do we beat ourselves up for making lousy choices for 1 day? Children fall down constantly as they learn to walk. They don’t beat themselves up; they just get up and try again. Why can’t we remember to be young again and enjoy exploring

This error message:
error: (10054, ‘Connection reset by peer’)

Says that the mail server is not accepting your connection.

Referring to the smtplib documentation you might want to set the debuglevel to a non-false value so you could get more info…or try testing your connection using a method other than Python to ensure you can even make a valid connection to the STMP server from the computer that you are using.

Right now, I’d focus on testing the connection by some other non-Python method to rule that out, before worrying more about the Python coding.
